Gig: 3rd August 2000 - The Laundry    Reviewed: Mon, 9th Dec 2002 by Brett Armstrong
3rd August
The Laundry, Fitzroy

Well the long anticipated Laundry gig took place last Thursday night as scheduled but not without the usual gav-related difficulties...

Gru and Duff's navigational skills showed top form with 45 minutes of pre-gig blockies trying to find the damn venue, and neither moron bringing a phone with them to assist in the search, leading to a very late load-in.
But much to both their delight there was still time for the pre-show Melbourne stubby or two.

Part 2 of the pre-gig dramas was Pete and Trav's assumption that the gig wasn't on. Derived from the fact that they were too scared to ask the bar staff or even explore the venue themselves -

"it's not on man, it's only doof-doof music, there's not even a stage..."

"you been upstairs to have a look?"

"nup"

The band room of the laundry was discovered up-stairs soon after this conversation toook place followed by the best gavin Melbourne performance to date! An unexpected, unanticipated, large crowd filled the small room by the third song of the set which made for a comfortable and enjoyable environment..

One CD sold and one traded with the first band kept the traditional CD sales figures on level and an invite to return to the venue was also quite appreciated.
